Laureamkon hallitus lausui hallituksen esityksestä laiksi kolmansien maiden kansalaisten maahantulon ja oleskelun edellytyksistä tutkimuksen, opiskelun, työharjoittelun ja vapaaehtoistoiminnan perusteella annetun lain muuttamisesta.
Lausunnossa nostimme esiin:
- Laureamko vastustaa perheenyhdistämisen perusteella vuoden odotusaikaa oleskeluluvan käsittelylle. Esitämme huolta perhe-elämän mahdollisuuksista esitettyjen käsittelyaikojen pidentämisen vuoksi.
- Näemme tavoitteen varmistaa opintoihin vaadittava riittävä kielitaidon perusteltuna. Kuitenkin korkeakouluilla tulee säilyä autonomia päättää opiskelijavalinnoista ja niiden kriteereistä. Riittävän kielitaidon tason vaatimusta tulee selkeyttää.
- Esitämme huolta kansainvälisten opiskelijoiden taloudellisesta paineesta erityisesti esitetyn toimeentulovaatimuksen ja lukukausimaksujen täyskatteellistamisen myötä.

The Laureamko Board commented on the government’s proposition to amend the Act on the Conditions for the Entry and Residence of Third-Country Nationals for the Purposes of Research, Study, Work Placement, and Volunteer Work.
In our statement, we highlighted the following:
- Laureamko opposes the one-year waiting period for processing residence permits on the basis of family reunification. We express concern about the impact on family life due to the proposed extension of processing times.
- We consider the goal of ensuring sufficient language proficiency for studies to be justified. However, higher education institutions must retain their autonomy in deciding on student admissions and the criteria for them. The requirement for a sufficient level of language proficiency must be clarified.
