Yesterday an equal marriage law came into effect on March 1st, 2017. With an equal marriage law same-sex couples can step into marriage.
The law may affect some students’ supports. In the future also same-sex partners incomes will affect the grounds for granting advantages or the amount of advantages. The changes in this became valid yesterday.
Every same-sex couple who gets the advantages of Kela has to inform about their cohabitation to Kela so that the supports can be paid right. The advantages can be inherited back otherwise. The announcement can be taken care of in the electric service of Kela.
