The Laurea University of Applied Sciences Student Union Laureamko is organizing supplementary elections for the Representative Council on February 18–25, 2026.

The Representative Council exercises the highest decision-making power in the Student Union. For example, the Representative Council approves the student union’s annual budget, elects the board, and decides on the general guidelines for the student union’s activities.

In the by-elections, four regular members and a maximum of 15 deputy members will be elected to the Representative Council for 2026. The official working language of the Representative Council is Finnish, but English is also used in meetings when necessary. The elections will be conducted by electronic voting between February 19 and February 26, 2026.

All members of the Laurea University of Applied Sciences Student Union Laureamko who have paid their membership fee for the spring semester 2026 by 12 noon on February 10, 2026, are eligible to stand as candidates. Candidates will form electoral alliances consisting of 1–15 candidates. Candidates may join existing electoral alliances or form new ones. If you wish to join an existing electoral alliance, please contact a member of the representative council belonging to the alliance and mention this in your application. Each electoral alliance must appoint a representative, who may also be a person outside the electoral alliance. The representative of the electoral alliance fills out the notification of the establishment of the electoral alliance. Each candidate fills out their own candidate form, indicating which electoral alliance they belong to. If a candidate does not join any existing electoral alliance, they form their own one-person electoral alliance and are considered to be acting as the representative of their own electoral alliance, i.e., there is no need to establish a separate electoral alliance in order to stand as a candidate. A candidate may only belong to one electoral alliance.

Election coalitions may form election rings. There is no upper limit to the number of election coalitions that may belong to a single election ring, but an election ring may have a maximum of 30 candidates. An election coalition or individual candidate may only belong to one election ring. Each electoral circle must appoint a representative who fills out the electoral circle’s establishment notification.

Candidate forms and the establishment notifications of electoral alliances and circles must be filled out using the electronic form by 3:00 p.m. on February 10, 2026. All members of the student union who have paid the student union membership fee for the fall semester 2025 by 12:00 noon on February 10, 2026, are eligible to vote in the elections.

The Central Election Committee will confirm the electoral roll (list of eligible voters) at its meeting on February 10, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. The electoral roll will be available for inspection at the Student Union’s central office in room B507 on the Tikkurila campus of Laurea University of Applied Sciences from February 10, 2026, until the end of the elections. An appointment must be made in advance to inspect the electoral roll. To make an appointment, please send an email to [email protected].

Requests for corrections to the electoral roll must be submitted by 4 p.m. on February 17, 2026. Requests for corrections must be submitted in writing to [email protected].

All materials required for the elections can be downloaded from the student union’s website (www.laureamko.fi). The materials can be found under the election announcement. In addition, the material is available upon request from the Student Union’s central office at Laurea University of Applied Sciences, Tikkurila campus, room B507, and by email at [email protected].

The Central Election Committee reserves the right to make case-by-case decisions regarding the conduct of the elections in accordance with the rules of the Student Union, the current election regulations, the campaign guidelines, the principles of safer premises, and Finnish law.

Best regards,
Jan Widberg
