Aleksi Niemi has been chosen as the new Executive Director of the Laurea University of Applied Sciences Student Union.
Aleksi Niemi will transfer to the position from his current role as a communications specialist in Nuorisoala. He has previously served as acting executive director of the Student Union of the School of Humanities. Niemi has also worked as an education policy expert and communications and advocacy coordinator for the National Union of Students in Finland (SAMOK)
The current Executive Director, Rami Hollmerus, is moving to the trade union side to take on new responsibilities. “It has been wonderful and a privilege to be involved in enabling student democracy at Laurea and the development of Laureamko into one of the best student unions in Finland,” Hollmerus says wistfully.
“It’s great to be joining the Laureamko team, and I’m looking forward to getting started and getting to know everyone in the fall,” says Niemi.
