What is the board?

Laureamko’s board consists of a chairperson, vice-chairperson, and a maximum of eight board members. The board is often divided into two teams: an advocacy team and a service team. The chairperson and vice-chairperson of the board divide the roles between themselves, deciding who will chair the advocacy team and who will chair the service team. The board divides the responsibilities for the year among its members and forms other smaller teams.

The board is responsible for day-to-day work together with Laureamko employees, represents Laureamko to various parties, implements the action plan, and supports other Laureamko actives.

The term of office for board members lasts for one calendar year, from January to December, and compensation is paid for the position of trust.

What does the board do?

The board’s advocacy team focuses on issues such as well-being, advocacy, feedback processing (including Vox box feedback), influencing Laurea’s decision-making, and election lobbying and communication.

The service team’s activities include organizing tutoring (selection and training), international activities (including exchange students and other international activities), campus team activities (training and support), marketing and communications (social media channels and websites), sales products and online store management, and event organization.

On the board, you will get to draw up budgets and action plans, learn project management and other management skills, create cooperation agreements, influence Laurea’s working groups, and, of course, gain great networking opportunities. There is a lot of expertise available outside the university’s own pedagogy, as well as credits!

How is the board elected?

The new Council of Representatives will elect the new board at its organizational meeting on November 20, 2025, starting at 5:00 p.m. on the Leppävaara campus in room Tuomo.

The meeting is worth attending, as candidates will be interviewed starting at 4:30 p.m. If there are more applicants than available positions, the interviews will help the council in their decision-making. At the meeting, the chair and vice-chair of the board will be elected first, and all board members will be elected at the same time.

Those interested should send their application by November 12 to [email protected]. Applicants will have the opportunity to introduce themselves at the organizational meeting. In your written application, please tell us who you are, where you come from, and why you want to join the board/what you would like to do on the board. Although each board member has their own area of responsibility, these are not specified in the application process. Instead, areas of responsibility will be decided in more detail at the board’s organizational meeting during the current year and confirmed at the board’s first meeting in 2026.
