[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]“What is quality management?”, “What is an audit?” Were the first questions, if I had just started my studies at Laurea. The year 2016 could be described in many ways a big year. The student union celebrates its 20th anniversary, Laurea 25th and then there’s this coming audit in March.

So what audit? FINEEC performs universities of applied sciences evaluations among other level of education in Finland, this is called the audit. The audit is for to evaluate UAS own quality system. And as they say in Karvin pages of “quality system refers to the development of the activities as a whole comprising quality management organisation, division of responsibility, procedures and resources.” Included under evaluation are also degree programmes, which in Laurea case are: nursing programme, Service Innovation and Design, SID (Master’s degree), and Hyvinkää’s social services programme.

For student quality management appears through through code of conducts. When you enter the course feedback, discuss your studies with a tutor, read code of practice of the thesis or internship. All of this is part of a quality culture.

Hopefully this text prepares you for the audit that happens on Tikkurila’s campus in March (8. – 10.3.2016). While you may not actually be interviewed, is the quality management our common cause. The next time you give course feedback, you know you’ve made a gesture in front of quality management.
