THE ELECTION OF THE COUNCIL OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STUDENT UNION OF LAUREA UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES 2025
Student union of Laurea University of Applied Sciences will have the elections of the Council of Representatives from 2.9. – 6.11.2024.
The Council of Representatives exercises the highest decision-making authority in the student union. For example, it approves the annual budget of the Student Union, elects the Board and decides on the major policies governing the activities of the Student Union.
In the elections for 2025, a total of 30 members of the Student Union will be elected: 15 full members and 15 alternates. The official language of the Representative Council is Finnish, but English will be used in the meetings if necessary. The elections will be held by electronic voting between 30 October and 6 November 2024. All members of the Student Union who have paid their membership fees for the academic year 2024-2025 or the autumn semester 2024 by 21.10.2024 at 12.00 noon are eligible to stand for election. Candidates will form electoral alliances of between 1 and 15 candidates. Candidates may also join existing electoral alliances. Each alliance must appoint a representative, who may also be a person from outside the electoral alliance. The representative of the alliance fills out the electoral alliance establishing form and each candidate fills out their own candidate form.
Electoral alliances may form electoral coalitions of up to 21 candidates. A representative must be appointed for each coalition and must complete the form for the formation of a coalition.
Candidate forms and declarations of alliances and coalitions must be completed using the online form by 12.00 noon on 9 October 2024.
All members of the Student Union who have paid their membership fees by 21.10.2024 at 12.00 are entitled to vote in the elections.
The Central Election Committee will confirm the electoral register (list of voters) at its meeting on 21.10.2024 at 16:00. The electoral register will be available for inspection at the Student Union office in room B507 of the Tikkurila campus of Laurea University of Applied Sciences from 21 October 2024 until the end of the elections by appointment only. Requests for corrections to the electoral register must be submitted in a written form to the Central Electoral Commission at [email protected] by 28.10.2024 at 12.00 noon.
