Each year, Laurea University’s of Applied Sciences student union, Laureamko, seeks students from the university to act as the student voice in Laurea’s various decision-making channels. This year, the organization of Laurea has been reformed. As a result, the student positions have been redesigned.

    • Working life steering group of Hospitality Management and Service Design (1 representative)

What do the groups do?

Degree work-life steering groups give students the opportunity to share their own and other peers’ experiences and feedback on their degree. Student representatives are also given the opportunity to hear views on developing qualifications, including those from the working world. FINNISH IS USED AS THE WORKING LANGUAGE IN THESE GROUPS.

Acting as a student representative

Applicants are expected to commit to communicating with the Students’ Union and attending training sessions for student representatives. It is an advantage if you can commit to the group for a full calendar year. Membership of the Students’ Union is also considered an advantage. We expect applicants to have a genuine interest in the subject matter of the group and to be motivated for the position. The names, email addresses and photos of those selected will be published on the Laureamko website.

You can apply for credits for the skills you have acquired, which you can then add to your degree as electives or take as ‘extra-degree courses’. You can read more about credits for active work, how to apply for them and the requirements on our website. Your learning and development will be supported by the training courses offered by Laureamko, which will add additional content to the portfolio required to apply for credits.

Apply to become a student representative

The application will be open until 23:59 on 15.1.2025. The student representatives will be elected and confirmed at the Laureamko Board meeting on 23.1.2025 and you will receive confirmation of your election no later than week 5. The student representatives will be elected for the next calendar year, i.e. 2025.

NOTE: Finnish is used as the working language in these groups. Understanding Finnish is therefore crucial for working efficiently as a student representative in these groups.

You can apply to become a Student Representative by submitting this application form. The form allows you to fill in your basic information and briefly describe yourself, your reasons for being elected and any previous experience in similar roles. However, you do not need to have any previous experience as we train and orientate student representatives!
