Expertise born in student union participation is identified and recognized as part of student’s degree. Those who participate in student union actions have a possibility to gain 5 to 45 credits of curricula-based complementary competence. Accumulating the expertise is recognized by applying the RPL–process.

Social Impactor

“The Social impactor module is part of the core competence of all students while actively taking part in student union activities.   Students acquire a command of the module’s areas of expertise while e.g. organising events, taking part in student union activities on campus and taking part in the active development of the student union’s communications in networks and social media.”

Management and leadership of the future

“During the Management and leadership of the future module students will take part in student union activities especially from the perspective of leadership. Students acquire a command of the module’s areas of expertise while e.g. acting as chair of the student union or as head of a large project entity or association.”

Guidance and expertise training

“Expertise is born via guidance activities in the Guidance and expertise module. Students may take part in different study units.”

Callidus tutoring includes at the moment Sports tutoring and the Multicultural mentoring project.

Instructions for the modules “Social Impactor” and “Management and Leadership of the future”

Student is responsible for the relation of his/her actions and learning outcomes, acquires necessary theoretical background for supporting, deepening and developing his/her actions. Student documents evidence of actions and demonstrations to kyvyt.fi–page to his/her e-portfolio. It is recommended to buid up your portfolio throughout your whole time as an active and you can also utilize it when applying for a job or when you need to showcase your skills. Examples of content that can be included in the portfolio include: a blog or videos.

New material bank is going to be built to support collecting theoretical background.

Process in practice:

Student applies for evaluation of expertise via e-lomake, the form is sent to module coordinator and evaluation group. The form needs to include a link to student’s portfolio, which viewing settings are set to be either “Secret URL” or “Public”.
The module coordinator evaluates and approves the demonstration (approved/failed) together with the evaluation group.
Evaluation group consists of the module coordinator, two senior lecturers and the executive director of the student union.
Evaluation group meets at least three times a year: in the spring, summer and fall.
The Evaluation group can ask for additional demonstrations or specifications to application.
There is no need for registration to modules, the module coordinator adds students to module when adding credits to Winha.
The student must save the evaluation materials (portfolio) at least six months after the evaluation.

Deadline for portfolios is allways at the last day of January, May and October.
